Brewer Application Form

2018 Funktoberfest will be held October 6th, 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm at Spirits Food & Friends. Funktoberfest is central Louisiana’s only premier craft beer-focused event. This community event’s purpose is to raise money to put musical instruments into school classrooms.

A key component of Funktoberfest is a home brewers competition. Participating brewers will transport their brew(s) to the event, serve samples of their home brew(s) to event attendees, and remove their brew(s) and equipment when the event is over. This year there will be three competitions: 1) Judge’s Choice, 2) Brewer’s Choice, and 3) the People’s Choice. All three competition winners will be announced at 6:00PM. A description of each of the competitions is as follows:

  • Judge’s Choice - 2018 Funktoberfest tap handle and a professionally designed logo by Kinetix

  • Brewer’s Choice - (Voted by participating homebrewers) 2018 Funktoberfest tap handle and winning beer recipe will be brewed by Twenty8West Brewing and served on tap

  • People’s Choice - (Most Money Raised) 2018 Funktoberfest tap handle and gift card worth $250 to a homebrew site for supplies

For purposes of this event, a brewery can enlist up to two brewers and two volunteers that will be admitted for free (brewers and volunteers must be 21 or older | A code will be given for tickets) Additional supporters are welcome but they will be required to purchase tickets.

Review the Participation Requirements below before submitting your Application and Brew Description Form(s). An application submission is an acknowledgment of and agreement to the terms below. To submit your forms via email, send them to brewer@funktoberfestcenla.com, subject line Funktoberfest Application. Brewers may bring their own signage to advertise their brew(s), but Funktoberfest will also produce a “Beer Menu” to pass out the day of the event. Funktoberfest will edit submitted information as needed, to fit all of the brews and their descriptions into the Beer Menu.

Brewer Participation Requirements

  • Brewers must bring at least 200 sample servings (2-3 oz) of each brew prepared for competition.

  • Brewers must provide for all storage and pouring needs their brew(s) at the event.

  • Please label and monitor all personal property brought to the event.

  • Brewers and volunteers must arrive at 10:00 am the day of the event to check in, receive their event packet (passes, voting marker, and beer information card) and set up. The blind judging process will begin at 12:00pm. At this time, each brewery will submit one beer with an accompanying info card. This card will be given out on competition day.

  • Brewers, or their volunteers, must remain at their stations until all their brew(s) is/are gone, or until the awards presentation, whereby they are then responsible for cleaning their station and removing their materials.

  • Brewers and their volunteers must act in a professional and courteous manner to all event attendees. Funktoberfest will have volunteers and security personnel prepared to step in should anyone need assistance. Brewers are liable for the behavior of their volunteers.

  • Brewers will be supplied a tip jar that will be collected at 6pm at the end of the competition. Tips will decide the People’s Choice Winner, and all collected tips will be donated to local schools to help put instruments in the hands of children.

  • Brewers will supply their own tent (10x10). Funktoberfest will provide sample cups, a table and 2 chairs, ice, and electricity.

  • A simple sign will be provided with the Brewer’s name/names, but if you have your own signage or banners please bring those to decorate your booth. Any and all decorations are welcome.

  • No vehicles will be allowed on festival grounds until after festival grounds are cleared

  • Funktoberfest, the event venue, nor any volunteers recruited by Funktoberfest are liable for any property damaged or stolen in association with this event.

  • Only 1 brewery per tent
